Recommended Clothing & Amenities Participants should bring warm, casual clothing. If you wish to take advantage of one of the many hiking trails, make sure you bring comfortable walking or running shoes. You can expect a pleasant walk from the cabins to the meeting halls/dining room. The
Silver Falls Conference Center is about 20 miles from the
nearest town. Stores, restaurants, or other vestiges of
civilization are not available. Please ensure that you
bring any amenities (e.g., medicines, clothing, film,
toothbrush, shampoo, etc.) with you. Bed/bath linens will
be provided. While you are at the workshop, the telephone
number for emergencies ONLY is (503)873-3113. There are
no telephones or televisions in the rooms. Silver Falls Conference Center
Transportation Provided: Shuttle Service A
shuttle service is scheduled to pick up workshop
attendees enroute to the Silver Falls Conference Center.
Guests wishing to visit the Portland area may meet the
shuttle downtown at the Hilton Hotel (921 SW 6th Ave.) at
10:00 AM or the Days Inn City Center (1414 SW 6th Ave.)
at 10:05 AM on Sunday, June 27. Pick up time at the
Portland Airport is 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 27. Please
indicate on your registration form if you wish to use the
shuttle service. The shuttle will arrive at
Silver Falls at approximately noon on Sunday. The shuttle
returning to the airport on Tuesday, June 29, will leave
Silver Falls at 4:00 PM. Allow a maximum of 2 hours for
the trip between Silver Falls and the airport. If you
cannot arrange your schedule to meet the shuttle service,
please arrange for your own transportation to/from
Portland. Directions are provided below. Portland Area Hotel Information* *Applies if you are arriving prior to the workshop and need a room for Saturday, June 26th or are staying the night after the workshop and need a room for Tuesday, June 29th. We have reserved a block of rooms at a special conference rate of $70 for a single at the Days Inn City Center in downtown Portland. Make sure to let them know you are with the ProSim '99 workshop. The shuttle to Silver Falls on Sunday, June 27will be picking up attendees at 10:05AM on Sunday, June 27th in front of the Days Inn City Center on 6th Avenue. After the workshop, the shuttle will be dropping people off at the Days Inn at approximately 6:30PM on Tuesday, June 29th. Days
Inn City Center Directions to Silver Falls Conference Center If you choose to drive, Silver Falls can be reached in 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
Evening Social Event for Saturday, June 26 Attendees
that arrive the evening prior to the workshop have the
opportunity meet for dinner and drinks at the Rock Bottom
Brewery in downtown Portland. Reservations are
for 8:00PM on Saturday evening. Rock Bottom is located at
2nd and Morrison. It is a reasonable walk from the Days
Inn (about 8 blocks) or you may ride a free Tri-Met city

The registration fee
includes conference registration, lodging, seven
meals, social hours, breaks, shuttle service to
and from the conference, and the proceedings
book. Registration fees are $690 for a
semi-private, two-person room ($790 after May
26). There are a limited number of single person
rooms at $865 ($965 after May 26). All
registrations must be received at OCATE by June
18. Cancellations must be received by May 26,
1999; after this date, no refunds will be made. A
substitute may attend in place of a registered
participant if OCATE is notified prior to June
18. Roommates for the semi-private rooms will be
assigned on a random basis unless otherwise noted
on your registration form. We regret that the
limited number of rooms do not allow us to
accommodate non-attending spouses at the
Conference Center. Smoking is not permitted
inside the cabins and lodges.
